Surveillance and Outbreak Response Team (SORT) was established in 2013 by Dr. Lessler and other JHU faculty, and is currently led by Dr. Gurley. SORT is a group of doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty who provide support to public health departments and other health agencies (e.g., internships with BCHD, US CDC, WHO). SORT provided a very successful trend analysis training in June 2025 at the CSTE conference to 65 state and local epidemiologists and others in attendance.
